History Of Agape Children's Fund.
In December 2000, Pastor George Nsamba was invited to speak at Crossroads Evangelical Free
Church, Plymouth, Indiana. The Lord put in the heart of this congregation to help with the building
of Agape Children's Centre, Mateete, Uganda. Crossroads raise all the funds to start a school
building of four rooms. In July & August 2001 they sent a crew of fifteen on this mission trip. Steve
Carter was one of the team members and his heart was touched while he was in Mateete.
In May of 2002 Pastor George and his wife, Joy, stayed with Steve and Joy Carter. During their stay
they talked about the need of sponsors to support orphans and children who could not afford to go
to school; building projects; setting up mission trips in the future to work on the school. It was at
this time that Steve and Joy Carter started Agape Children's Fund.
During this trip Pastor George was invited to speak at Bremen Missionary Church, Bremen,
Indiana. The Lord laid on this congregation heart to do phase II. Bremen raise the funds to add
three more rooms and their crew went in August of 2002. (This trip was planned before Agape
Children's Fund was officially founded.)
In June of 2003 the first team sponsored by Agape Children's Fund was sent to Mateete, Uganda.
The crew had eight members, two from Crossroads, four from Bremen and two from Wesleyan
Churches. Out of the eight, four were making their second trip to work on the school.
In May and June of 2004 the second team sponsored by Agape Children's Fund went to Mateete,
Uganda. This crew had six members. This was Steve Carter's third trip to work on the school, the
second trip for two members and the first trip for the remaining three. The focus of this trip was to
put a roof on the new Secondary School class rooms started in the spring.
